November is National Diabetes Month

Diabetes is an epidemic in America. That is why during the month of Novemberwe come together to emphasize the importance of awareness, education, and resources for diabetes prevention.

According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), 88 million Americans have prediabetes, which is more than 1 in 3 people. Out of those 88 million, more than 84% of them do not know they have it. But prediabetes is reversible with certain preventative actions: getting a diagnosis, eating healthier, increasing activity, and more.

New Frontier wants to steer patients away from eventually needing vascular ultrasounds to manage their diabetes – because if not managed,  prediabetes can – and will – turn into a diabetes diagnosis. Some of the signs and symptoms of prediabetes are having a parent, brother, or sister with type 2 diabetes, being overweight, or being physically active less than 3 times a week. If you are concerned you may be showing signs of prediabetes, please contact your physician to get a simple blood sugar test done.
